FEMALE INTIMATE SURGERY
Nymphoplasty and hymenoplasty
If the hypertrophy of the labia minora may have developed during puberty or following childbirth, the phenomenon can also have appeared at birth. For comfort or aesthetic reasons, more and more women are resorting to nymphoplasty. The intervention aims to reduce the size of the labia minora so that it is contained in the labia majora or to correct an asymmetry.
Hymenoplasty is an act of intimate surgery increasingly practiced to give women an intact hymen. Various reasons can lead patients to choose this quick procedure.

FEMALE INTIMATE COSMETIC SURGERY: COSMETIC SURGERY OF THE LABIA MINORA OR NYMPHOPLASTY FOR HYPERTROPHY OR LABIAPLASTY AND HYMENOPLASTY IN MONTREUX, LAUSANNE AND GENEVA (SWITZERLAND)
The labia minora (Fig. 1) are called hypertrophic or “sagging” when they protrude from the labia majora, especially in the standing position. This hypertrophy manifests at puberty and is mostly bilateral and asymmetrical. It can however occur after a childbirth or at menopause.

There is usually an associated hyperpigmentation due to the rubbing in the undergarments. The occasioned aesthetic discomfort is often associated with a functional discomfort regarding dressing and during the practice of sports activities, but also on a psychological level during sexual intercourse. Recurrent mycoses may be associated with the hypertrophy of the labia minora.
The hymen represents a membrane which incompletely obstructs the vaginal orifice, thereby separating the vagina from the vulva. This hymen is not always present in women. The hymen does not always tear during the first intercourse but can simply stretch. Certain religious and ethnic cultural beliefs attribute a great importance to the female chastity especially before marrying, an intact hymen being in this case the guarantee of the virginity.
